Songkran Thai Kitchen Opens in Sugar Land Town Square

Upscale Thai cuisine has come to Sugar Land Town Square.

Award-winning Chef Jett Hurapan and his wife Jira have opened Songkran Thai Kitchen in the premier shopping, dining and entertainment destination at U.S. 59 and Highway 6 where an eclectic collection of restaurants presents cuisine from just about every corner of the world.

Songkran is named after Thailand’s most famous festival that marks the beginning of the Thai New Year.  This is Songkran Thai Kitchen’s second location with its first in the Uptown Park development in the Galleria area.

Under the watchful eye of Chef Jett, a native of Bangkok, Thailand, Songkran presents traditional Thai cuisine at lunch and dinner incorporating only the freshest ingredients – garlic, shrimp paste, Thai chilies, lemongrass and coconut among others.  As Pastry Chef, Jira Hurapan creates homemade sorbets, ice cream, hand-crafted truffles and other dessert selections.

Vegetarian and gluten-free selections are available.   Songkran also presents fresh Thai cocktails, wines by the glass, imported beers from Japan and other countries.

Songkran Thai Kitchen, 2258 Texas Drive in Sugar Land, is open next to BLU, a sophisticated restaurant, bar and lounge.

Through July, Songkran is open Monday – Thursday, 4 p.m. – 10 p.m.; and Friday – Saturday, 4 p.m. – 11 p.m.  Beginning in August, the restaurant will be open daily: Monday – Thursday, 11 a.m. – 10 p.m.; Friday – Saturday, 11 a.m. – 11 p.m.; and Sunday, 11 a.m. – 8 p.m.
