Rare Disease Day

Saturday, February 29 @ 10:30 am - 2:00 pm

Join patients, caregivers and other health care advocates looking to make a difference in Texas in the Plaza to celebrate Rare Disease Day®! This family friendly event will help elevate public understanding of rare diseases by calling attention to the special challenges people face in their daily lives. Activities include live music from the band Flashback, bounce houses, photo booths, a wheelchair friendly obstacle course, special occupational therapy activities, therapy dogs and games, medical and research industry exhibitor booths, plus so much more. Sugar Land Mayor Pro-Tem Carol McCutcheson will present a proclamation and U.S. Representative Pete Olson will be a speaker.   Skeeter’s mascot Swatson will also be making a special appearance.

Rare Disease Day takes place every year on the last day of February (February 28 or February 29 in a leap year)—the rarest date on the calendar—to underscore the nature of rare diseases and what patients face.
