Sugar Land Town Square: Shopping, Dining, and Events in Downtown Sugar Land, TX

Founded in 2003 through a partnership with the City of Sugar Land, Sugar Land Town Square was built as a true downtown destination where residents and visitors could live, work, shop, and gather. Today it serves as the vibrant heart of Sugar Land, one of the fastest-growing cities in the country, with the population growing from 24,529 in 1990 to over 118,000 today. Located at the intersection of U.S. 59 and Highway 6, Sugar Land Town Square features 223,000 square feet of retail and restaurant space, 566,000 square feet of Class A office space, 167 condominiums, a full-service Marriott hotel and conference center, and City Hall, all centered around a plaza that hosts concerts, festivals, performances, and pop-ups throughout the year. Sugar Land Town Square operates as a public-private partnership between the City of Sugar Land, Fort Bend County, Fort Bend County Levee Improvement District No. 2, and Pennybacker Capital.

Origins of The Square

We were first envisioned in the mid-1990s as a new central business district for the City of Sugar Land, developed by Planned Community Developers Ltd. as part of the larger First Colony master-planned community. Beyond our retail and residential mix, we’re also home to corporate offices, giving us a role in the local economy that goes beyond shopping and dining.
